About Me
Positive. Passionate. Patient. Persistent.
My name is Raam Brousard. I am the owner of Reward-a-Dog. I established this company as a result of my experiences with dogs both in my military service in the Israeli army from 1998 to 2002 and my work with civilian dogs for clients thereafter. Utilizing a combination of what I’ve learned by training and working with military dogs and my continued studies thereafter, I’ve found a sweet spot and thus the key to a happy, problem free companion. Positive reinforcement along with harnessing the dogs own personality to take them to their full potential. I believe dogs, like humans, want to be the best they can be and do the best job they can, for us and themselves. We, as their guides and leaders need to show them the way to excellence. Just as we raise our kids to be the best they can be with always-growing research and knowledge base, the same applies to the K9 world. Thanks to ongoing studies we’re always learning new things so we can better understand these magnificent creatures that stand by our side. Science, love, compassion and understanding are the base of my methods of guidance.
My Training Philosophy
I treat dog training and behavioral work as I do for raising my kids, making learning positive and fun experience. For most behavioral issues I work with the energy we, the human handlers direct towards our dogs. Most behavioral issues can be solved just by working on the handlers intention. You would be surprised at how fast the dog will change his behavior once the leash is transferred to a different energy source, ie human. Sometimes we do things unknowingly that trigger the dogs behavior in certain ways. It sometimes takes an outside pair of eyes of a professional to see these minute actions we do that affect our dogs. For obedience my approach is a "Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive Approach". Meaning positive reinforcement with very minimal aversive techniques that are reserved only as a last resort and in life threatening situations.
TESTIMONIALS
What They Say About Us
"Raam is an amazing dog trainer! I’ve had my fair share of bad dog training experiences and he has been a delight to work with. He’s very kind, patient, knowledgeable, helpful, and easy to communicate with and reach out to. Fair pricing and great training. I’ve only been working with him for a little over a month and am already seeing tremendous improvements with my malinois pups. Highly recommend!! Thank you so much Raam!" Vanessa P
"We are so thankful for Raam. He helped us regain control and create a harmonious atmosphere with our dog Ralph. He patiently guided us through the steps to create that new bond and obedience that has enabled us all to be so much happier together. I would definitely recommend Raam for anyone who needs or even thinks they need dog training. You will discover your fur baby all over again." Tali Shimer.
"Shelter dogs aren't always the easiest. Molly was stealing food from the counter, tearing up shoes, difficult on a leash and anxious to be left alone at home. Thanks to Raam Molly is now a well behaved good girl." Jenny M
